Stump grinding involves using a high-powered machine to shred the stump into wood chips, grinding it below the surface of the soil. This leaves the area smooth and ready for grass, landscaping, or construction.
In most cases, yes. Stump grinding is less invasive and much faster than full stump removal, which involves digging up the entire root system. It’s more cost-effective and easier on your yard.
We typically grind 4–6 inches below ground level, but we can go deeper if requested — especially for construction or replanting.
Grinding typically prevents regrowth. While it doesn’t remove every root, the remaining roots usually decay naturally over time.
